Krown Publications, LLC - About Us Is an independant family-owned publishing business, located in central Wisconsin. The company's founder, Robert C. Blaschke Jr., began the business wanting to offer advertisers a cost-effective alternative to the big-city ad rates that the media giants controlling the area newspapers demanded. Blaschke's idea was simple - create a publication that readers enjoy and look forward to picking up each and every issue. Then combine that with the area's most affordable advertising rates. From that simple approach The Free Companion was born! Taking his simple idea one step farther, Blaschke believed that no matter what an advertiser paid for his or her ad, if no one saw it - then it was wasted money, especially at the big-city rates that the Madison-owned papers were charging in Juneau county. Wanting his clients' ads to have a better chance of being seen, Blaschke built The Free Companion into a community style publication offering a wide range of appealing content, supported by the publication's advertisers. Comparing this to the alternative of advertising in one of those throw-away publications, that offer little or no content, Blaschke's goal was to get his customers' ads seen. After all, how effective can an ad be, as it weathers and turns yellow sitting in that plastic box before you get around to throwing it out? Unique as an advertiser, The Free Companion grew from its first issue of 1000 copies distributed in Juneau County back in 2003, to 10,000 copies each issue and freely distributed into parts of 16 west-central Wisconsin counties. As The Free Companion entered its fifth year of production in 2007, Krown Publications prepared to launch two new publications, based on the successful format of The Free Companion. The Wisconsin Racing Review rolled off the presses for the first time, on April 4, 2007, with the Good Neighbor making its first run in May of 2007.
